ASTER and switching between different user setups

Post by mattcowell » Tue Aug 18, 2026 12:38 pm

Hi everyone,
I’ve been using ASTER on a Windows 11 desktop mainly so two people can use the same PC at the same time. It works well for the normal setup, but I’m wondering how other people handle changing between different user arrangements.
For example, during the week I usually have two monitors, two keyboards, and two mice connected, with each workstation assigned to a separate Windows account. At weekends I sometimes disconnect one monitor and use the computer as a single workstation. I’ve noticed that after changing the monitor connections, ASTER doesn’t always behave the way I expect until I go back into the workstation settings and check which display and input devices are assigned.
Is there a recommended way to switch between a two-workstation setup and a single-workstation setup without constantly reconfiguring the assignments? I’m particularly interested in whether ASTER is designed to handle this kind of temporary change, or if it’s better to leave all the devices connected and simply disable the second workstation when I don’t need it.
I’d also like to hear how other ASTER users have their setups arranged. I’m trying to keep mine simple enough that I don’t have to troubleshoot it every time I change how the PC is being used.
Thanks,
Matt
